Air Tahiti has selected the software suite Bamboo Planning in combination with Bamboo Time Management
for the management of agent and service operatives (Stop over, Airside and Freight) working hours.

Paris 10th September 2004

Interview with Thierry ALBERT Human Resources Director.

Why have you decided to implement a scheduling and time management tool ?

We had developed internally a time management system but it was reaching its limits. We were looking for a complete hardware and software solution covering the whole activity from a future scheduling solution, supply of swipe cards, provision of analysis tools right through to the preparation of variable pay elements.

It was to cover 490 "operational" service agents (stop over, commissioner, airside, maintenance, freight and technical management)

What attracted you to Bamboo ?

We analysed many products on the market. Two characteristics particularly interested us about Bamboo. The first was the fact that Bamboo Scheduling and Bamboo Time Management use the latest technology, and also that Experian Prologia's offering included not only the software, but also the necessary hardware, and data mining tools and database. This complete package meant that it was not necessary for us to try and integrate different solutions from various providers.

The second benefit we saw was the possibility to parameterise the system to ensure it was specific to our scheduling and our constraints. This meant that a single Bamboo implementation could operate for example in Polynesia, abiding by French Law, but overlaid with local territorial and contractual agreements. This is just one example, actually we have to manage some 72 different types of working patterns!

What was the decision process ?

There were various stages in the process. Firstly we asked to see a prototype to check that the base functionality actually did meet our main requirements. It was tested by two users. This test was successful, so we passed to the next stage, namely a detailed functional analysis.

A business expert came to Papeete for a little over two weeks, and our requirements were gathered. This workshop allowed us to document in a very detailed way our requirements and to understand precisely the costs related to the modifications we required.

The knowledge of Experian Prologia in the field of scheduling and time management specifically in the area of aviation, was a major factor in the success of this phase.

After this point, we were able to validate the our business case and to commence the delivery process in all confidence.

What are the benefits you hope to gain ?

Our business, an airport open 24 hours a day but every day different, faces every possible problem of scheduling. As a result, it is very difficult to divide the workload to arrive at a workable schedule. Our objective was not only to standardise the working methods between many teams, but also to improve the working conditions, whilst increasing productivity.

This challenge couldn't be met without proper tools, and we are counting upon Experian Prologia to help us meet our objectives.
